Fargen Hot Mods [Guitar Amp Mods]
Fargen Hot Mods was a concept I developed to help working players turn their standard sounding vintage and production amps into world class tone machines. Once you have a Fargen Hot Mod installed, your vintage or modern production tube amplifier will be worthy of stepping toe to toe with any boutique tube amplifier on the market.

The Fargen super sustain mod is a recipe of components and modifications developed over 12 years of repairing, restoring and modifying guitar amplifiers. “I have seen the best of the best come through our shop over the last 12 years and I have documented why certain amps were much better sounding than others” It all comes down to parts drift ,rare factory circuit variations and some dumb luck. Certain components drift in a way that the designer could never have predicted… thus creating a unique and rare tonal opportunity.

The Fargen Super Sustain (FSS) capitalizes on this data along with replacing all the inferior caps and resistors used by most amp companies. Your amplifier will be upgraded with world class components that I have made for the Fargen custom shop backed up by 12+ years of expert tube amp knowledge. The combination of new custom components, new circuit revisions and new Custom Mercury Magnetics output transformer/choke enhances what any tube guitar amp has to offer in tone, note balance and sustain.

Each Fargen Hot Mod includes the following:

  • Custom Mercury Magnetics output transformer
  • Custom Mercury Magnetics power supply choke
  • Replacement of all critical signal path components including plate resistors, cathode resistors, cathode bypass caps, and tone caps.
  • Only the finest world class components are used throughout the modification process including: Mercury Magnetics transformers, SoZo vintage style mustard caps, 716 orange drops, Mallory M150 caps and Fargen custom shop hi end audio resistors.
