The Fargen Hot Mods line was developed to help players turn their standard sounding vintage and production amps into world class tone machines. Fargen Hot Mods offer our recipes of components and modifications developed over 16 years of repairing, restoring and modifying guitar amplifiers. “I have seen the best of the best come through our shop over the last 15 years and I have documented why certain amps were much better sounding than others” It all comes down to parts drift ,rare factory circuit variations and some dumb luck. Certain components drift in a way that the designer could never have predicted… thus creating a unique and rare tonal opportunity.

Fargen Hot Mods replace all the inferior caps and resistors used by most amp companies. Your amplifier will be upgraded with world class components that are made especially for the Fargen Custom Shop. We’ve worked with Mercury Magnetics for over 8 years co-developing custom audio transformers for the Fargen tube amp product line as well as upgrades for famous artist amps. Each Fargen Hot Mod includes the following:

  • Custom Mercury Magnetics output transformer
  • Custom Mercury Magnetics power supply choke
  • Replacement of all critical signal path components including plate resistors, cathode resistors, cathode bypass caps, and tone caps.
  • Only the finest world class components are used throughout the modification process including: Mercury Magnetics transformers, SoZo vintage style mustard caps, 716 orange drops, Mallory M150 caps and Fargen custom shop hi end audio resistors.

Do-it-yourself kits to replace all critical signal path board components including: plate resistors, cathode resistors, cathode bypass caps and coupling and tone caps. You can expect major improvements in your amp including improved note detail/balance, increased sustain, lower noise floor and smoother overdrive at lower volumes.
