Fargen Tweed Old '54: 2 x 6V6 amp head
There are so many boring and mediocre 5E3 tweed deluxe clones on the market today. I thought it was time to put a useful new spin on a traditional favorite. The new Fargen Old ’54 tweed takes the classic 5E3 design t the next level.

Where the fun begins is a pre double jumped input section with separate volume controls for each side of the tube. The orginal 5E3 tweed deluxe has both sides of the preamp stage voiced the same and that seems a little redundent and not as useful. I chose to voice CH1 with a slight jangle and airiness where a CH2 stays the tried and true 5E3 voicing. I also fixed the inherent lack of solid low end in the 5E3 tweed deluxe created by the stock 5y3 rectifier tube. I redesigned the Old ’54 tweed around a 5Ar4 rect tube to tighten the lows and add some much needed guts for live work. But have no fear – the B+ and plate voltages all remain the same as a vinatge 5E3 tweed deluxe. This retains all the dynamics and feel we all know and love. If your tired of the same old tweed deluxe offerings, step up to the next level with the Fargen Old ’54 tweed amp.
