1957 Fender Tweed Tremolux Guitar Amp (5G9 Circuit, 1957-1960)
This Fender amp is a rarity among its other tweed deluxe brethren. The 5G9 Fender Tweed Tremolux model featured a 2 x 6V6 fixed bias power section unlike the previous 5E9-A (55-56) design which was cathode biased. The extra headroom from the fixed bias design coupled with the oversized tweed box (most likely used from Fender tweed pro overstock cabinets) creates a big and bold sound unlike most tweed deluxe Fender amps, which compress and distort much earlier on the volume dial and lack low end response due to the small combo cabinet size. The Fender Tweed Tremolux can do the club scene and provide some much needed headroom for a multitude of styles and tones.
